A memorial Mass of Christian Burial for William V. Cantlin, 78, of Heath, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, with the Rev. Timothy Hayes officiating.

Mr. Cantlin died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at Mount Carmel Medical Center East. He was born April 9, 1926, in Cleveland, to the late Harold and Irene (Wahl) Cantlin.

William was a United Sates Navy World War II veteran, where he served as Quartermaster on an L.S.T. in the South Pacific.

William was the owner and operator of Pepper Water Well Supply, and was previously involved with the Ohio oil and gas industry for 30 years.

A member of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, William was an avid supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. He was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award, given for his long and distinguished service and tireless volunteer time at Camp Falling Rock. He was committed to the youth of the county, loved the outdoors, nature, and playing the piano.

William is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lyda (Roth) Cantlin, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael D. and Barbara Cantlin of Newark; daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen "Katie" and Keith Kuhn of Newark; four grandchildren, Kevin and (Melissa) Kuhn, Kristin Kuhn, Kelli Kuhn Leedale and Stephanie and (Matthew) McKenzie; three great-grandchildren, Cameron Leedale, Mackenzie Leedale and Alivia McKenzie; many nieces and nephews; and his longtime pet companion, "Zack."

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his brother, Harold; and his sister, Theresa.

The family will be accepting visitors at the Blessed Sacrament Annex, immediately following the funeral Mass on Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to The Rock Foundation, 12637 Houdeshell Road, N.E., Newark, Ohio 43055, to benefit Camp Falling Rock.
