ROSSIE MARY C. ROSSIE, 74, of Rockford, IL., passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday,
July 13, 2004 at her residence. Mary C. (Kirk) was born on May 21, 1930 in Cleveland,
OH., the daughter of Clarence and Laverne Kirk. Later in life she returned to
school, graduating from Rock Valley College where she founded an adult student
organization. She completed her degree in Journalism at Northern Illinois University.
She was employed by Womanspace, where she was also active in their many programs.
Mary also worked as a freelance writer, with submissions to several local publications.
Mary is survived by her husband, Joseph F. Rossie of Parma, OH.; son Joseph A.
Rossie of Shelby, OH.; daughters Donna Rossie of N. Royalton, OH., and Karen
Rossie (husband Bill Rehm) of Carrboro, NC.; grand-children David, Benjamin and
Grace; sister Dorothy Kirk; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded
in death by her parents, Clarence and Laverne Kirk; sister Jeanne Kirk; and brothers,
William and John "Jack" Kirk. A memorial Mass will be held at 10:30
a.m. on Thursday, July 22 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church on 1088 Ridge
Rd., Hinckley, OH. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or
the National Women's Health Network.
